Dr Harvey Tagger
My qualifications
I have worked in the field of clinical psychology since 1999, starting off doing a voluntary placement year as part of my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Aston University with a clinical psychology team in Sandwell. Following that I worked as an Assistant Psychologist in Wolverhampton working with people who had physical health difficulties and were struggling with their emotional wellbeing as a result. In 2002, I started my Clinical Psychology Doctorate at the University of East Anglia, where I had my first experiences of working in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service and this started my hope to work to support children and young people. My doctorate dissertation was also based on how children access their thoughts and feelings and the implications this has for therapy.
Since 2005, I have worked in the West Midlands in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, across different parts of Birmingham and Solihull and alongside my private practice, I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in a NHS service.
As part of any psychologists’ ongoing practise, we have to keep up with keeping up our skills and training. I have in the last decade completed a further Post-Graduate Diploma in Evidence Based Practice in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (2015), a Post Graduate Certificate in Evidence Based Supervision (2017), and training in Parts I, II and III of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, 2019). Alongside this I have regular clinical supervision with a clinical psychologist to help me reflect on my own clinical practice.
I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a practitioner psychologist and the register can be checked on the following link (www.hcpc-uk.org/check-the-register and search for my surname Tagger or my registration number PYL21809). I am also registered with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and my current registration can be checked on the following link (www.babcp.com/CBTregister/Search) by searching for my surname.
