The assessment session
The first session is always getting to know the person (and the person getting to know me), which is why I allow for 90 minutes (therapy sessions are usually 50 mins to 1 hour). This includes helping me to understand the current difficulties and how it is impacting on life, past experiences, likes and dislikes, mood, daily life, amongst other things. It is also important to know if there are any concerns about safety or any risks there may be to oneself or to others. As part of the assessment, we also think together about understanding how the problems started and how they are being maintained (that is, how the problems keep going) to find ways of how we can overcome or manage them.
As part of the assessment, it also includes a written report of what we discussed and what therapy or support may be recommended as a result. The cost for an assessment session is £225.
Therapy sessions
Therapy sessions usually take 50 minutes to an hour and this allows us time to work on addressing the difficulties. For some people this can involve helping to process difficult emotions, for others it may involve planning tasks in between sessions to practice skills. What is important to consider is therapy works well when there is a sense of momentum and frequent sessions, with reviews to see how it is going, may be recommended based on your needs. This would be discussed at the assessment session so that you know what is involved to help make a decision. The cost for a therapy session is £130.
Where are the appointments held?
I work at the Our Place Community Hub, based in Sutton Coldfield. You can find out more about the hub here (website). There is an ample pay and display car park next to the Hub but also free on-street parking for a limited time nearby. The Hub is accessible for anyone with mobility issues (a ramp is located to the rear of the building). At the time of the appointment, I will come to meet you from the Hub reception porch area (please arrive at the time of your appointment as there is a limited waiting area facility). Please see the attached pictures of the Hub to help with becoming familiar with the space (pictures to follow)
I am also able to offer appointments virtually and these are arranged through the booking system (see link).
Booking appointments
Please see the attached link to book appointments (link to Write Up when sorted), which is all managed online. The system allows you to register to book and pay for appointments directly and also to cancel or reschedule if needed. The appointments need to be booked with at least 24 hours notice on the system and all current available appointments will be shown.
If you have any issues with booking an appointment please contact me via email (show email) and I will help you through the process.
